Hello,
Since this morning, you receive scan alerts generated from your servers to the Internet regarding all ports. If you scan a network on port 32900, you'll receive an alert. For now, there are no consequences for these alerts. But we have an eye on your server.
In these alerts there are scan detections on port 25. SMTP. These are not really scans, but SMTP connections made from your servers to the Internet. When you send a large mailing list or your server is an SMTP server that sends many emails, or you have a hacked server and it sends spam, you receive the alert.
In about 1 week, in case of scan detection of port 25 (SMTP) IF AND ONLY IF your server has no personalised reverse, we will block sending emails from your server. It means that if your server has the reverse in *.ovh.net or in .* kimsufi.com, you won't be able to send mass mailing. You must customize the reverse and put for example your site www.mysite.com. With such a reverse, there'll be no more problem, you can send the mass mailing.
So thank you for updating your reverses. http://help.ovh.co.uk/PersonalisedReverse
Thus, first, we will separate the customers who do not send mass mailing and those who use servers to send emails. Also, it will not be possible to get a server in 1 hour and use it immediately in the case of sending mass emails. Some preparation is needed. Also, if your server has been hacked, Ovh protects your server against blacklisting by stopping it from sending spam. You'll then have time to clean your server and reprotect it without consequently blacklisting your servers fixed IP. This will allow us then to refine the verification of our customers who send a lot of emails to better manage and isolate those who respect the ethical rules and those who use our infrastructure to spam.
Regards,
Octave
