Hello,

In this news, we talk about bandwidth, servers, AMD, the "storage" cells, new distributions and ranges in 2009.

Servers:
- Since Friday, you can change the type of bandwidth in the manager (UK / ES / IT / DE / PL). Tomorrow we will propose to buy bandwidth Business (Unmetered) with 100Mbps/200Mbps 300Mbps or 1Gbps per server. Tomorrow, you will also have the possibility
to buy over GB traffic (UK / ES / IT / DE / PL). You can change the type of bandwidth once per month (UK / ES / IT / DE / PL).

- The evolution of bandwidth type offers is completed. We do not expect changes quite a while, ie not for 2 years. Indeed, recent developments in bandwidth dated from 2006 where we introduced the "101Mbps/client." This year we improved offers yet since we now offer up 2Gbps per customer with no extra billing, bandwidth and unlimited guarantee to 1Gbps per server with billing as well as more bandwidth in GB / month and Burstable. We offer all existing offers on the market and our usual offerings that have no equivalent elsewhere. You can quickly verify that at Ovh you get a far better price. This is possible thanks to our European network whose capacity is 400Gbps.

- Work on 3 new servers with AMD CPU (SP / EG / MG) ie a 2x, 4x and 2x4x cores. Everything should arrive in early January 2009. It looks a server HG as a 4x4x (16 cores) but we are not yet sure that there are customers interested by servers such as the 2009 HG is very high performance while remaining a good 2x4x but ...

- Beginning January, it should also offer 3 servers storage (SP / EG / HG) with small CPU, RAM few but many, many discs. The aim is to give the widest choice of hardware and solutions to our customers in a price range very interesting.

- A distribution "without root access" is being studied (a 'Managed server'). The objective is to offer a dedicated server with the administration made by our teams. Just as with host computing power almost unlimited. All the options and services will be manageable from manager. We do not expect such distribution before January but also depends on feedback from our customers.

- Cpanel is available with licenses in Ovh. Suddenly, Plesk "unlimited" promotion will probably within a few days (strong competition).

- Virtuozzo is already available via the manager and, if Plesk customers want licenses in containers of Virtuozzo there is a promo of -75% (you must still pass through the support and under everything will be little in the manager).

- It reflects on a distribution "email" with all the antispam and antivirus tools with the necessary licenses Kaspersky pre-installed on the servers, and all webmail services sharing of documents. There is a need for feedback on this subject, whether or not to launch the project.

- The range of 2009 servers will not happen before February 2009. It should not be large changes in the hardware. Some developments or options and more. For now let's say we'll see in February;)

- We have exceeded 44,000 dedicated servers for rent.

RPS
- You can have up to 30 per IP failover with RPS management of IP Failover as on dedicated servers. You will be able to switch between IP on RPS dedicated servers, totally flexible.

- We are considering an RPS 4 and 5, but we need more feedback from our customers needs.

- RPS clusters with self-generation of new RPS from an RPS are currently being considered. This system will be completely separated from dedicated servers. We are looking at the needs at that level before embarking on the project.

- Thanks to recent changes in internal procedures the remaining minor problems were fixed. The RPS Your Feet.

To be continued, tomorrow: 4/5

Regards,

Octave
